As part of the science team you will be involved in a wide range duties including:

  • Lab maintenance
  • Equipment inventory
  • Sourcing and repair
  • Chemical storage
  • Preparation of solutions and chemicals
  • Lesson preparation
  • Support the faculty at the annual Open Evening

The apprenticeship position will be based in the science faculty at St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy supporting the Senior Technician and the teachers within the science department.You will be trained in various aspects including: preparation of standard solutions, preparation and handling of chemicals, preparing lesson requisitions including dissections, radioactive sources, handling, preparing and making glassware and setting up various electrical circuits; maintaining faculty inventory, microbiology, lab upkeep, chemical and equipment storage and maintenance, keeping up to date with and following all Health and Safety guidance issued by CLEAPPS.As well as other duties to support the smooth running of the faculty.
