What will the apprentice be doing?
As an apprentice fabricator you will:
- Work with different metals creating fabricated and structural products using engineering drawings
- Cut, drill, shape and prepare materials using manual and power tools, calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and policies and work proactively as part of a team
- Maintain a good attitude to housekeeping, tidying up at the end of each shift
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
In College one day a week over the full period of the apprenticeship.
The final year will involve completion of a portfolio and preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA). This measures the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the standard and is carried out by ESFA approved organisations independent from the college.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The starting wage will be regularly reviewed and increase in line with performance and progression throughout the apprenticeship. Potential to be taken on as full-time member of staff at the end of the apprenticeship.
